Downright Bizarre Games pokes fun at the video game industry, an entertainment business that often takes itself much too seriously. This is a hilarious look at the odd side of the industry, from games outside of the norm to bad art and outlandish dialogue. Also featured are unfortunate headlines, marketing fiascos and publicity stunts gone awry. All these eccentric and strange events are documented within this book which gaming professionals wish had never seen print.
The book's Foreword is written by our very own Keith Robinson!
As Keith Robinson says in his introduction, this is a useless book. However, it is a beautiful looking book full of useless information. Michael Thomasson is a talented graphic-designer as well as a professor of videogame design and history. Put those talents together and this is the result. This full-color book summarizes games that usually don't appear in "Best Videogames" collections. And interspersed within these summaries are pages showing strange game boxes or weird game quotes. And an entire section is even devoted to strange advertising campaigns. This is truly one downright bizarre book that deserves to be on the shelf of all videogame fans, strange and normal alike.
